All about me :)

Hey everyone!

My name is Rebecca Austin (Bec), and I am 34 years old from Warwick, Qld. I have two beautiful boys, William (5) and Joshua (17), and my hubby (Matt) is a FIFO worker in the mines, inland from Mackay.

I work full time as a Office Manager/NDIS Plan Manager at Catalyst Accounting & Tax and am excited and extremely nervous to be studying my Bachelor of Accounting/Bachelor of Business. My goal is to progress in my career and to come to a better understanding of my role within the business. Just to understand more about what i am doing at work everyday would be nice! (Haha)

I am pretty excited to have finally made the step to study at Uni and as nervous as i am i have already learnt so much! My nerves are starting to settle now and i am keen to learn more!

I am pretty proud of myself. I am normally not the kind to talk about myself, but this journey i have started is pretty special to me. Lets just say i have had a pretty colourful childhood and had to learn to be a grown up from quite a young age. I have had the absolute pleasure to help raise my three siblings, along with being a 17 year old mum to Josh, then to have my second child (and last), William , 12 years later at 30, i have had my work cut out for me to keep on top. (Mentally, physically and financially). My hubby and i have been together since i was 16 and we have worked bloody hard to get where we are today. Now i am at a point in my life where i can start to take care of me for once! My siblings have grown up and moved out and are doing great! (So Proud!) I am now at a point in my life where i have started to put my dreams and goals into play. So here i am! Studying to become an accountant!

Below is my beautiful/crazy family:

I am super lucky to have been offered a full time job at Catalyst Accounting & Tax last May. I honestly didn’t know if i would like it or not, but i had been working in retail for 13 years so i was ready for change. Turns out i LOVE my job! I love numbers and organising (I may be a little OCD), and i have a fantastic boss that is flexible with the kids and appointments etc. As Matt is away quite often, i appreciate this so much. I’m sure a lot of you working mums out there can relate.

I honestly could write for days about life and my experiences but at the end of the day i am here, i am proud and i am excited! I look forward to seeing everyone’s blog’s and learning with you all, as i am sure i will have a million questions. Feel free to say hi!

Happy studying!!
